OUR ANCIENT REMAINS-GHOST PLANTS (RHIZOME STATE)

Beginning in 2017, an expanding wall installation of Ghost Plants to eventually become a room installation with sound connected to it. Each piece connected to the archive is on white paper with layers of carbon and is 15"x11.5" (HxL).

Researching and working with the material of carbon, vessels and sound as a platform to explore the connection between plants and human relationships, Our Ancient Remains is inspired by my ancient plant fossil hunting excursions in Cincinnati, OH. The region in and surrounding Cincinnati has specific geographical locations that have allowed for large amounts of plant and animal fossil deposits to be pushed up to the surface. Most of the ancient plants that I collected are over 450 million years old or older.
