BLIND TANKS by BLOODROOT

Invitation to perform at Mojave Sound Art 2018: Incantations. Bloodroot, a lunar collective created between gal*in_dog AKA Guillermo Galindo and Amber Stucke, offers an incantation to change the shape of water to the desert land. Near to the Sheep Hole Mountains, the site for the performance holds the location as a secret water source deep within the earth.  Blind tanks were used by the Cahuilla people throughout the Mojave Desert as they traveled back and forth through the harsh, arid landscape and were needed to survive. From a series of actions that includes sound, language and ritual, the piece honors and calls to the hidden water.

INCANTATIONS: A Sound Art Gathering; March 30 - April 1, 2018. It is an installation based and site-specific performance sound art gathering in the High Desert of Southern California. As a space for creating and presenting sound art work, the desert landscape calls on artists to be open to its many opportunities and challenges. Incantations invites artists to work with the landscape, space and history of the desert and call forth or summon the spirit of the space while creating within relationship to it.
